Sawyer is learning quickly and trying many many new things.
This past week he rolled over for the very first time. Mom was a cub scouts and Dad called to see when she would come home. Sawyer was pretty cranky. Dad had put him on his tummy for a minute and "flop" Sawyer rolled for the very first time. Mom didn't see him do it at all that day, but the next day he rolled three times in a row. After that he rolls about 10 seconds after being on his tummy. (most times anyway, sometimes he forgets he can roll if he has been playing on his tummy for a while and then gets angry.)
Another thing Sawyer did this week is sit all on his own. He's been practicing for a while and has been able to sit for a few seconds on his own, but this week he started doing it for longer and learning to balance himself while he is playing. This was also the first week he toppled over and bonked his head from sitting and playing. Happily, it didn't faze him one little bit.
This past Saturday he got to go swimming for the first time. All his Garn cousins, except Jay and Beckett went swimming at the Bountiful Rec Center. He has always loved loved loved baths, so Mom and Dad were pretty excited to see what he would do when we took him swimming. He was excited to be at the Bountiful Rec Center. He loves going places and people watching. He was in such a good mood. When he first got into the water, however, he was a little nervous. He didn't get upset, but he didn't get excited either. It may have been because the water was colder than his bath water and there was more of it. He couldn't lay down in it or sit touching the bottom without being totally covered in water. He got cold quickly so Mom took him out and waited for Dad to arrive and go in again. Once Dad got there, Sawyer LOVED it! He was splashing and kicking and shrieking. Dad even held him on his belly and Sawyer kicked and kicked and stroked his arms through the water. He didn't like that as much because he kept drinking lots of the water. Dad also dunked him a few times which startled him, but he didn't get upset until he started getting tired and cold (which didn't take too long) Then he took a nap right there at the Rec Center while all his cousins kept playing in the water.
