So April went by fast...oh wait, so did May!!! We celebrated my birthday in April by going to a movie and Sawyer went to play at Jordan and Melissa's. About a week before this he started obsessively wearing my bike helmet. He had to take it with him. So, all the way to Jordan and Melissa's, he wore the helmet, or so I thought. I went to get him out of the car and there was a whole bunch of black stuff on his face. I brushed it off thinking, what in the world could that be?! Then I saw a chunk missing from the helmet. He really is learning way too much from my dogs!
Along with learning things from my dogs: he still barks at the window, he lays down and licks up the dogs' water or food, and he tries to chew random things and then give them to the dogs to chew...oh brother!
Throughout April we continued with Basil's dog training. He is really getting into the clicker and giving the dogs treats. It's too bad he doesn't have them do something for him first.
We also celebrated Ashton's birthday before they left for the summer. He loved helping pick out the present for him and giving it to him. Spending time with Ollie has really helped him share more. Thanks Ollie!
Then came Easter. Sawyer was finally big enough for Easter to matter. He loved the Easter egg hunts. We got him a few balls too, which of course, he LOVES. Unfortunately Basil has already popped 2 of the 3. Easter day was a little traumatic for him though. I had to leave early for church because I played a musical number and needed to run through it once before and Sawyer had a meltdown that I left him with Dad. Then he got to church and Jake was speaking so he wasn't sitting with us. That was rough for Sawyer as well. Luckily Gma and Gpa Garn were there to help out. Sawyer had finally calmed down a bit and decided to sit with Gma when I got up to play. Once again he had a meltdown. Jake then stood up for his talk and again...a meltdown. He then calmed down, but Jake finished speaking and Gma and Gpa left. Wow, he was sooo distraught, so I took him out for a drink. Then it was nursery time. I just happened to be subbing in there so he stayed on my lap for almost an hour straight. He finally got comfortable and got down to play and another little boy jabbed a toy dinosaur tail in his eye. He wouldn't leave my side the rest of church. After we went over to Garn's and he had a lot of fun there eating candy, playing bubbles, and the egg hunt.
As for the month of May, he has gotten a lot more adventurous. He has had a few play dates with cousins and friends. We had the twins over one Monday after music makers and he learned to climb over things and jump off things. (oh goody!) We also went to the park with the twins and by the end he was finally had enough nerves to walk in the sandbox and go down the slides. A few days later I found out he knows how to climb up on my neighbor's trampoline and I can't get him off very easily. I have to watch him really closely because when we are out front he runs as fast as he can down the street and onto the trampoline. Then he learned he has a new love from Ollie...pretending to drive cars. Anytime he he sees my car or Jake's car he asks if he can drive it. He turns on the lights and the emergency blinkers. He makes car noises, honks the horn and tries to turn on the radio. Thanks Ollie! Then one of the little girls who lives across the street let Sawyer get on her scooter. He now wants a bike or scooter soooo bad! He sees other little kids riding them around and points to them and signs 'bike" and then says "please!"
And most recently he watched a group of rowdy 3 year old boys wrestling and had to get involved. He doesn't care if he gets bonked around he loves wrestling!
He also has a new obsession of frogs and bugs. He loves his frog humidifier and he also has "Frog and Toad" books that he is constantly asking me to read. That or "Snug house, Bug house" He loves to find the bugs outside, but once they start crawling in his direction he gets a little freaked out and signs "dirty".
Then one of Jake's new favorite things about Sawyer is learning that he is scared of an African mask we have hanging in our kitchen. For whatever reason he has decided it is terrifying. I'm sure it has nothing to do with Jake taking it down and putting it on and making a quite roaring noise while slowly walking towards Sawyer. I'm sure that isn't it at all. :)
And last but not least he is getting weaned from his Binky and can't have it during the day so he has started biting everything, including my arm! He also bit Dosh the other day while 3/4 the way up the stairs. He bit him hard and wouldn't let go, so Dosh turned and bit Sawyer back right on the nose. This resulted in Sawyer jerking back and tumbling backwards down the stairs. Luckily he was fine other than a little bite on his nose and a bloody lip.

Poor boy! Binki weaning was the worst at our house. Thankfully we didn't have any biting issues, just lots of really LOUD tantrums! Can I just say that I LOVE that he acts like a dog! What a fun boy thing to do. Wish we were closer my girls would LOVE to play!
ReplyDeleteOh poor guy, falling down those stairs! Hope he learned his lesson though.
