10 months

Sawyer turned 10 months a week ago. I can't believe how fast time is flying! He's still been getting used to his left leg out of his cast, but it gets stronger everyday. He started army crawling on the 19th of July and just takes off for the most dangerous things or most disgusting things: outlets, power cords, lighting equipment, plastic bags, pennies or other loose change that I didn't realize was sitting on the floors, bobby pins, cotton from the dog toys, dog food, toilet cleaners and on and on and on. Of course he goes for the dangerous and disgusting things rather than his own toys sitting right him. They just aren't as entertaining as everything else. He also throws huge tantrums when I take any of the dangerous items away from him or even move him away from him.
By the 25th, he started to take a few regular crawls. He hasn't quite gotten them all the way down though.
Sawyer also now pulls himself up into a sitting, kneeling, and sometimes standing (standing only started on the 25th of July) position. Since he started doing that he has had another bump in his sleep cycles. He will sit up and cry forever until I either give in and rock him all the way to sleep, he falls over and sleeps or even falls asleep sitting up holding onto the crib and his teddy bear. We are slowly making sleep progress so I have a hope that he will eventually sleep all night long and put himself down for naps. In fact, the last two nights in a row have been phenominal. He has only woken up twice! He has also started to HATE having a blanket even touching his legs while he sleeps, but he has to have a blanket up by his face to cuddle. He also has to have his collection of stuffed animals with him: Fredrick Frog, Walter Wolf, and Beuford Bear.
He does love to eat. He will dance whenever he thinks something is good. He is enjoying food more and more as he tries new things and feeds them to himself. He has started to throw tantrums if I even touch his food and so I have given up trying to keep things relatively clean at meal times and he even feeds himself yogurt and applesauce. What a mess!
He is loving music more and more and much to his fathers dismay, I think Sawyer will grow up and band geek like me. He starts dancing anytime he hears music especially if there is a good rhythm section. We have "Band in a Box" and it is his favorite toys. He loves jammin' out on the kazoo and tambourine. He also will pound on the piano and sing. When we are at church and the organ starts to play the hymns he starts singing.
He still loves his dogs and cat and laughs at them all the time. Anytime they bark, he turns in their direction and yells a short EHH! He loves giving them toys and shoving things into their mouths, even when it is something I desperately don't want the dogs to chew on. He loves trying to throw Basil toys and thinks it is the funniest thing when the dogs come get the toys out of his hands. Today, July 16, he stared going kiiy kiiy when the cat came in and was following him all around the kitchen saying it. He still signs "dog" when the dogs come in the room and he is starting to go "ba ba ba" around Basil.
This past week Sawyer has been driving me crazy with his tantrums and clinginess, but I think he finally is coming around now that he has been sleeping a little better. Today I feel like this is the funnest stage yet. He was so good the whole time I cooked, ate and cleaned up dinner. He played on the floor and then didn't fight me getting into the high chair and was just great. He also went to bed so fast and happy (granted I didn't let him cry to sleep because he fell asleep during his night time song.)
