Wirlwind of the most Wonderful Time of Year: Sawyer's Christmas, Blessing and New Year

December to January was such a crazy one filled with family and friends and firsts. Sawyer's little first bottom tooth had made a peek appearance. We thought that it was here to stay when it disappeared two days before Christmas and it hasn't come back, but it sure has been bothersome! Then it was Sawyer's first time meeting his Uncle Jake, who lives in Texas. He took to him right away...except for when he was cranky, hungry and tired. And it was Sawyer's first Christmas. That week we ran all over the Wasatch Front. Christmas Eve started with the Yates' family brunch. Then we took a drive down to Riverton for our Meakin Christmas. (As you can see in the pic w/Julie and Sawyer, we were watching Star Wars: A New Hope). After the Meakin Christmas we stopped to watch Four Christmas' at the Garn's. (It didn't seem familiar at all! j/k) Christmas day was the Garn's Christmas and then we went to a delicious Prime Rib and Salmon dinner at Uncle Leslie and Aunt Laura's. Mmmmm. Then after dinner we ran back over to the Garn's to see Jordan and Melissa's family (they didn't get up here from St. George until 7:00) The day after Christmas was time for pajama pictures with all the Garn cousins and then home to clean clean clean and cook for Sawyer's blessing on Sunday.

Christmas Eve with all the Yates' cousins and then with the Meakins, Christmas Day with the Garns and the last is of Beckett and Sawyer with their new cousin Bris.

First thing Sunday morning we were running around trying to get all ready for the blessing. Luckily Grandma and Grandpa Meakin came to help get ready. We forgot to put his blessing blanket in the dryer, and mom really wanted to have him in a white blanket...oh well. Then at the church we Uncle Bruce brought the white afgahn Great Grandma Audrene made. Thanks Audrene we were so excited for that blanket for his blessing! Anyway, as we were packing up Jake yelled down the upstairs hall, "Courtney's water broke!" and silly mom thought that that meat Aunt Courtney and Unlce Kevin's water pipes in their townhouse broke...even though she was 9 months pregnant and going to the hospital the next day to get induced. So...it was a busy day for Grandma and Grandpa Garn. Grandma Garn made it to the church just in time for the blessing and then made it back to see sweet little Brisbane Garn Allphin being born. Aunt Courtney was such a trooper and even had him natural!

We were a little nervous all month about all the immediate family making it to the blessing. We had it on the 27th of December because we knew Uncle Jake would be in town; however, mom didn't double check with him and his flight was to leave at 9:00am, the same time of the blessing. Luckily, he was able to switch his flight to 3:00pm so he could be there. Then the boys just barely made it on time anyway. 9:00am is quite early! But they were able to sit in the foyer and heard the whole blessing and then came to sit through Sacrament meeting. The first time in years. Uncle John was happily suprised that it was only an hour (he thought it was 2). We were so grateful to have them there! And Grandma Garn made it just in time and even wrote down some of the things that were said. We were only missing Tamlage (he's in Korea) and Courtney and Kev, but they were excused. The blessing was beautiful and Sawyer was such a good baby through the whole meeting until the last 5 minutes. After the blessing our family came over to the house for a brunch. Aunt JaiAnn and Grandma Meakin brought breakfast casseroles and Aunt Beth and Julie brought bagels and Aunt Taylee put together a big fruit plate. Thanks guys, it was wonderful!

Then came Monday. We had our friends Secret Santa Christmas party down at Keith and Abbie's in Murray. We had a good time: played a game, ate some chili and visited for a while. I think Sawyer was starting to get really tired of all the visiting and missing his own bed though. That night he only woke up once. It was the first and only time he's done that. After that night he's woken up 4-6 times a night. UGH! So for New Years we had a nice relaxing day staying at home taking naps. Sawyer did wake up at 12:00am January 1, 2010 because of all the fire works, so he did get to have a Happy New Years snuggle.
